Enhancing IT Security to Satisfy Stringent Franchise IT Requirements

The Client

A multi-location franchisee was tasked with revamping their IT security to comply with newly mandated franchisor standards. The requirements were very specific and had to be completed within a strict timeframe.

DEVsource had supported this client with co-managed services for several years, facilitating their rapid growth to 31 locations across Tennessee. Before contracting DEVsource for the job, the client considered several other companies. In the end, DEVsource was able to relay the proposal in an easy-to-understand yet comprehensive way that went above and beyond the requirements.

Having worked with DEVsource in the past, they already had an excellent rapport with many of their employees, so in the end, it was an easy decision.

Challenges

The requests handed down from the franchisor had stringent parameters. Ultimately, they were intended to meet compliance standards with international protocols, including the GDPR. The security enhancements would impact all aspects of the business, keeping user and customer data safe from unauthorized or unlawful access.

A disaster recovery plan (DRP) was also required, and systems needed to be adapted to provide redundancy and protect against every possible scenario.

Solution

DEVsource completed the required work within the timeframe, including handling some recalls requested by the franchisor.

DEVsource handled every aspect of rolling out the solutions and compiling proof-of-adherence with documentation and screenshots. The DEVsource team worked closely with the client to ensure every requirement was addressed. When the franchisor needed additional information, DEVsource responded quickly until the client achieved 100% compliance. Many other franchisees were unable to meet the requirements within the given timeframe.

The DRP and advanced security measures helped the client reduce their cybersecurity insurance premium. They also have peace of mind knowing that they are protected against costly downtime in the event of a cyber threat.
